BATTERED WIFE

I do
You do?
Do you really do?
I doubt its true
But still I believe in you

You punch me in the face
The ring you just misplace
No love in your embrace
Release me I need space

I do
You do?
Do you really do?
I doubt its true
But still I believe in you

You are alcoholic
Your stares are demonic
Your love has no logic
You are so psychotic

I do
You do?
Do you really do?
I doubt its true
But still I believe in you

You forced me to have sex
You don’t give a respect
D*mn! all of these effects
Now all my soul objects

I do
You do?
Do you really do?
I doubt its true
But still I believe in you

  1. I love the chorus of this poem, and it’s true, some women stay with an abusive partner out of love, but often the problem is a combination of low self-esteem fear. Abuse is usually question of control, and the one in control can diminish the other person so much that he or she can no longer think straight, or figure out a way of escape. The abuser often makes the victim believe they can’t survive on their own. Usually the victim is a woman, but I’ve seen a few of cases (mainly of mental abuse) where the victim is a man. Shamed and humiliated by his weakness, he feels there is nobody he can turn to.
It’s a horrible situation to be in, and the sufferer rarely gets the empathy they deserve, since people don’t understand why they don’t just leave.
